Christmas Recap

I survived through the Christmas weekend without too much drama.

My in-laws arrived on Thursday night.

Friday I kept myself busy with errands and running around so I wouldn't be confined to the house for too long.

My mom arrived Friday night and served as a godsend until she left on Sunday night by keeping my MIL entertained and out of my hair.

Saturday was my birthday. All-in-all a good (not great) one. I'm 26 now. Craig got me the Polar F6 I've been coveting for months. My MIL struck out big time...two holiday shirts. You know, the ones your mom wouldn't even wear (unless she's a teacher)? Yeah, THOSE. She knows me so well.

Sunday was Christmas and Craig's birthday. He liked his wine fridge and PS2. This was BY FAR the best day of the weekend. Craig prepared a fantastic spread for dinner. Maria, our pastor, and her family all joined us. It was like something out of a cheesy Christmas movie: the food, the wine, the conversation. Just wonderful.

Monday was hellish. By this time, my mother left, leaving me to fend for myself with the MIL. I was more than ready to shoot her at this point. I had to keep reminding myself that there were only hours left to go until their departure. "Only 18 more hours, and they're gone", etc. They left EARLY on Tuesday morning. I didn't bother to get up and say goodbye.

Now, our life is back to normal. It will be many more months before the MIL comes to visit again...and even then it will be too soon.

By far, the best gift we got for Christmas and birthdays was our group gift from Alf, Maggie, Vikas, Mohamed, and Maria. They bought us tickets to the Trans-Siberian Orchestra on Thursday night at the Bradley Center. They even got us a gift certificate and reservations to a new steakhouse to go to dinner beforehand. Fantastic planning on their part! I'm going to take tomorrow off from work to take it a step further and make it into a date day instead of just a date night. We're going to check out the Rembrandt exhibit at the Art Museum. We've lived in Milwaukee for 3 years now and still haven't been. Can't wait!

Wow, I guess your MIL never reads your blog - LOL!

Enjoy your date day. :)
